I was just thinking about that whole Texas thing. I know they've not had a big storm in a while. When is the last time Texas saw a Hurricane?

Rita hit part of TX last year, and before that the last one was Claudette in 2003 and Bret in 1999.

Well, we have a drop in the "eye" and no VDM yet and a missing OB 9 somewhere that hasn't come in yet. May be a vortex still out there.

We saw one on September 24th last year....the worst disaster in this area in my lifetime and everyone else's who lived here.

Got to wait for Debby now. Heck with all this dry air in giant ULL's I don't expect it for another few weeks. My theory of after a huge season like 2005 we see a quite one the next year is proven true.

so when they do a drop they dont do a vortex?

No, usually (when they are doing drops) they will do drops in the center and sometimes the "max wind band," where they think the highest surface winds are.

I said what I said because the observations are numbered, so if a vortex had come out, it would have had to been somewhere in that order. OB 10 is the highest we have gotten so far, so if none of those obs from this pass are vortexes, then no vortex will be transmitted this pass.

There is still a definite LLC. IMO, it doesn't look any worse than it did yesterday. As a matter of fact it looks a little better. Popcorn thunderstorms are going off, indicating additiona upward motion in more than one quadrant. The upper winds are lessening and I see now reason why he will not regenrate into a TS before Cuba. This is NOT a tropical wave.
