Chris is depressing :(

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

Chris is depressing :(

#1 Postby Josephine96 » Fri Aug 04, 2006 8:47 am

It's a shame that almost 2 days ago to this exact time we were debating whether or not Chris was already a hurricane.

Now.. I kinda wish he'd just die off, or have the shear completely relax so that he'd get some life back.

Where's Debbie when ya need her?

Might be a sad thing up there, but, down here in South Florida, we're very happy - if it had not been stopped, the Keys would be under a mandatory evacuation at this hour, and, the supermarkets and gas stations would be jammed...

There is nothing but happiness when you see a tropical system weaken or dissapate. :D

yea, but sometimes tropical storms can bring much needed rain to certain parts of the country, so they aren't always bad, as long as it doesn't reach hurricane strength.

No biggie though as I'm sure there will be a TON more developing before the season ends.

but its my name...I wanted to be a big storm that didnt hurt anybody, but its a weak storm that didnt hurt anybody. I still think it could come back in about 2 days, considering nearly every model restrengthens it after bringing it down to about 25mph

I agree that sometimes a Tropical Storm is a good thing, and, the A storm did bring Florida much needed rain, so, that is a good thing, but, it's when it's a Cat 2-5 - that's not a good thing, damage-wise...

I'm very happy Chris has weakened. I'm not sure how much more our economy can take, and a direct impact from another major hurricane in the Gulf would have been... dangerous.

Why are some people so anxious to bring on the next tropical system. "Bring on Debbie". Do they not realize that there is always the potential for destruction and complete devastation? I am happy that Chris has dissapated - - - and yes, "Chris" is my son's name, too. I certainly don't look forward to the next tropical system.

Will this argument ever cease to exist? Probably not.

this question is always debated on here.......I dont think that anyone is after the destruction portion........but just want to watch the birth of a storm.

Wow people quit whining about people being anxious for storms. This is a HOBBY to some, and like to track them and watch them develop.

Hell my house has been hit by so many hurricanes i cant even remember all of the names (Michelle took my roof off, direct hit on my island). Yet I still like to see storms develop.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the title of this thread!

I cannot even find Chris on sattelite. It's that bad.

Check out how crazy the GOM looks right now:

Yes… it’s so depressing that I’m going to hook up my boat and spend the weekend in the Key’s, This Sunday is opening day for Lobster season, guess I’m going to have to spend the day in the ocean chasing crustaceans during the day and drinking beer and eating fresh lobster in the evening, darn I could have spent the weekend putting up shutters and waiting in line for hours getting gas.. oh well…
