Will Chris regain TS`status?

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

Just curious to see if any of you think Chris will get back to becoming a tropical storm?

I personally wish it would  But don't think so..

I think a lot depends on what direction ole Chris goes. If he goes through Cuba he is going to have a very difficult time (my opinion). If he misses the land mass I think he has a chance of recovering somewhat.

Considering nearly every model re-strengthens Chris to a TS, I would say there is probably a 50/50 chance at least.

I think it will reach tropical storm atleast when it reaches gulf. It will be a lot more favorable in the boiling SST's with the Eddys and loop currents. All Chris needs to do is keep his circulation and have some convection and it should streinghting. It should have 3 days in the gulf to do that. Shear shouldnt be to much of a problem too, the only shear to be concerened about is the easterly, but it should move fast enough to avoid most of it.

It's gonna be a fight. I think there is a chance...but there is a good chance it will be downgraded to an open wave first. It's almost there now. It has real good vorticity, but if you look at the south side of the circulation, the eastward movement of the clouds has really slowed. There is probably only 10 knots of west wind on the south side now. It's getting very close to opening up into an open wave.

It better get some thunderstorms over the center by tonight...or it will open up.

I don't think so and I do not expect it to reach the GOM as anything more than an open wave or area of disturbed weather.

Not looking likely. Upper low continues to move west as well east of Chris.
