Model discussion, should we now pay more attention to UKMET?

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

It did anticipate a more northerly track and dissipation in the absence of land interaction.

I think all models are given consideration, especially the GFS, GFDL and UKMET. It seems like there are quite a few different things going on in the environment around Chris that made things a little more complicated. I know the ULL near Florida hasn't moves westward as fast as it was forecast to and the shear has proven to be to much for the small system to overcome, at least for now.

While you can lean toward it a little for this coup, you must also think early August, over warm water, favorable environment, etc. Plus with other models showing development you must ensure that the safety of people are considered. Best to prepare for a storm and have it weaken than to think it might weaken and have to make last second preparations.

True….but didn’t the GFDL, the early outlier in previous runs, have a somewhat simmilar handle on Chris as well?
