Let's pause and remember John Hope on first anniversary

#1 Postby cycloneye » Fri Jun 13, 2003 6:09 am

Wow already a year has passed on June 13th 2002 when we got that sad news about the death of the master of the tropics John Hope. When he appeared in the tropical updates everyone was silent watching and listening to him to see what he was going to say about what was going on in the tropics. We miss him greatly because those tropical updates are not the same without him and anyone will never be the same as he was doing those updates.

John Hope was a great man, and nobody will ever forget what he did for tropical forecasting.

I am going to miss him that is for sure. I am like you Ceye... I would make the whole room be quiet while he delivered his Tropical Update.

John Hope sure was a joy to watch. I remember watching him alongside Jim Cantore during Hurricane Gloria in September 1985; as the storm moved northward, paralleling the eastern seaboard into southern New England.

I knew the anniversary of his death was approaching, but for some reason didn't give it a lot of though. He passed away in his favorite month of the year... June, the start of the northern hemisphere Hurricane Season.

I miss him as well.

The great man is in heaven now - no doubt giving GOD his own personal tropical updates - at least that's what I like to think. To the memory of Mr. John Hope - THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES - without you there is a missing link on TWC.

John Hope was my best source of tropical information for many years. Now TWC is just a commercial weather tv station with "storm stories" and all the programs like that. If we didn't have the internet we would really be in trouble now.

What a great tropical forcaster John Hope was. He is in part the reason I became so interested in tropical weather. When a storm approached I would search the channels looking for info, and guess what I found it all in John Hope. After that I was hooked! I miss him alot...
