OK guys,
Spoke too soon. Seems when Chris made his turn to the west he got us. Winds have picked up considerably and white caps in the lagoon now.
Don't know if this link will work but look at this: http://stormcarib.com/mysat.cgi

Plus he seems considerable larger than this am when I looked at this same screen.

Quiet on this thread. Experience 20 + mph winds, gusting higher.

Having a bit of a moderate squall right now, seen on radar now passing over. Doesn't look like it will last long. Winds are W of N, and I'm esitmating, based upon which window screens are getting the most water. Outside is just grey, can't see anything.

1:55 - 'm going to edit this, it's blowing a bit now. Probably 25-30mph gusts. Keep in mind, though, I'm at 1000 ft on a steep hill facing west, right into the wind.

As expected, this afternoon diurnal heating induced precipitation occured in Southern Puerto Rico as the north to northwest light winds blowing towards the cordillera central mountains caused the southern rains. But also some bands arrived into eastern Puerto Rico.We expect some more bands tonight as the center of Chris passes to our north.Winds haved been generally light between 10-15 mph.

Good afternoon everyone,

We in the Turks and Caicos are now under a hurricane watch. Our shelters are now open and we are in full swing preparing for the storm.

As I am a volunteer with the Red Cross, I have spent much of the day bundling clothes for shelters; distributing sandbags to those in low lying areas and selling flashlights, first aid kits and the like. We will begin this again tomorrow morning.

I will keep in touch, tho at the moment I do not know exactly where I will be during the storm itself.....perhaps in a shelter working, or if not needed (LOL) hunkering down with some friends.

This is not my first experience with hurricanes......being originally from the Cape Cod area, I have been through 3-4 hurricanes in the past.
This will be my first experience with hurricanes in the tropics since I moved here a little over 2 years ago.

To all...be safe during the storm.

Good morning, neighbors!

We've had lots of rain, some thunder and lightning, a few strong (25-35mph) brief gusts. My power went out shortly after last post, about 7pm... but if someone even sneezes my power goes out, no big deal!! It wasn't an outage all over BVI.

Since we were still saturated from our 3-5" over the weekend, I bet there is plenty of mud/rocks down on roads, etc., but it never slows us down here. Road crews will have most cleared quickly.

Just as I write this, rain is very light and I can hear the frogs chirping. :D

Good morning, Luis! Glad to read your report that (so far), no flooding problems in PR! Let's hope it stays that way. Here we are having light-moderate rain. The low clouds are racing (north) down the ghut from the hilltop nearby - looks really cool!
