Local S FL Mets
I started this thread on what the local Mets in and around S Florida are saying about Chris.
Lonnie Smith of Channel 6 Miami states a possible Hurricane for late Sunday into S Florida providing he keeps on the forecast track.
He states we will know by Thursday night what Chris will do.

I have been watching Telemundo 51 due to the coverage of Fidel's powers being given mainly to his brother Raul. The Meteorologist Luis Carrera, a frind of mine, has been giving information about Chris but has not focus on the track past 72 hours, which is correct since many factors have to come together and only time will tell.

MODELS
According to NHC morning discussion there going against some of the models including the GFDL. I think the models will be half right. Too much shear this year. Probably hanging on to tropical status off the Fl coast somewhere.

Yeah thanks Chris...
Yeah that was great insight right?
South Florida is always in the cone initially and then we get moved out overtime.
I sure hope that happens here
As I said, even a Tropical Storm would be bad here....also I predicted our next storm Aug 1st +/- 5 days.
Looks like I hit it to the day

Congrats gatorcane. Thanks to all of you for keeping the info coming on what the local mets in S. Florida are saying about Chris. I'm in SW Louisiana and was planning to be in Miami on Saturday and Key West on Sunday. May have to postpone - keep in the info. coming! Hope we don't have to tangle with Chris in the GOM later down the road. Still recovering from Rita.

At 5pm, Bryan Norcross is saying:
Exactly where it goes in the future track has to do with how strong it becomes. We (S. FL) are in the cone so we have to pay attention.
Upper winds - the low to its right is impinging a bit and keeping it from strengthing much. As Chris begins to move w/nw, the lows will too, and it will be a more favorable environment and we'll probably see more strengthing. A couple days later the environment becomes questionable/uncertain so that's the reason for the question on where it goes and its impact on us.
Basically, as he said, we have to watch and see....
