Just for comparison - Katrina and Chris.....

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

Just for comparison - Katrina and Chris.....

For those interested in comparing Katrina's track through S. Florida:

I KNOW you can't compare one 'cane to another specificially -- so no flaming please. Just thought the two tracks might be of interest to some.

Could we please keep the sarcastic remarks out of the threads? Remember what your mom always taught you..."If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all".

I really hope that your prediction is wrong Extremeweatherguy. I'm still recovering from Rita. I do not think that Chris will make the mb's that Rita or Katrina had. At least I hope not!

No shot in hell. The lowest it could theoretically go in this high pressure environment would probably be around 915.

No, no, no. Don't get me wrong. I do not think this will be as strong as Rita, and I do not think it will have the *exact* track, but I think a similar track with a Cat. 2+ landfall is certainly possible. I do not think this will become a Cat. 5 in the Gulf like Rita or Katrina though.

Not me....

Remember, pressures basin-wide were low last year, and wind speeds never really caught up.

I understand what you are saying Extremeweatherguy. As we all know, if anything ever gets in the GOM, we all need to be alert. Things can change quickly. In the back of my mind (and a gut feeling - nothing scientific), I, also, believe that there could be a similar path. Let's hope not the intensity though.

Nothing to sto pthis system in the gulf from getting at least int othe 140-150mph range, everytime we've seen systems cross the loop current, be it on the western side of Florida or deeper in the Gulf we've seen storms really strengthen, Charley, Dennis, Katrina and rita all crossed the loop currents at one point during thier rapid strengthening sessions.

Much would depend on what shape it left the Gulf and what shea ris like at the time obviously.
