Why is it everyone is wondering, or debating why we have gotten off to a slow...or relatively slow start (compared to last year) Does it really matter? Why not sit back and enjoy it. Last year there were BILLIONS of dollars in property damage...THOUSANDS of Fatalities.. And dont forget about these people. I assure you they arent wondering when we will have the next storm
Dont get me wrong..I like to keep track of an "active" storm...but I have reviewed a lot of these topics..and it seems some of us really want another disaster.
Reason I am posting this is because I have an old high school friend that lost everything with katrina in Miss. and I think we just need to think about what we wish for...

This arguement is stated all the time, no one wishes harm or destruction on anybody. We have ZERO control over when or where a storm forms or makes landfall. The mere fact that we are on here discussing hurricanes makes us better prepared for the next one. We are all in awe of the shear force of nature and are interested in tracking them. Its harmless and not offensive in the least in my opinion.

Its kind of like the man that built his house near the ocean where the tide comes in. He gets his house destroyed when the tide comes in in rebuilds the next day just to have it destroyed again. Also this is what we do is track tropical cyclones, if you don't like discussioning them why read them?

If this thread is in response to the thread started by Dustin, all he was asking was why the dynamics were different last year, as compared to this year...purely a learning thread.

However, I do agree with you about people wanting storms to form left and right...all one has to do is read through the 98L thread to see that.

And, I am with you, I would love to track two Cat. 5 hurricanes. It would be nice if those storms just took a track right out to sea.

Techinically bashing would fall under flaming, which according to subsection 2.0 Conduct Rules set by all of the great staff members here, is not allowed and the post would be deleted and a warning sent out to the person who wrote the post via a mod...but that is my take on the rule... as for what you said, I would agree, sure I want something to track, but I do not want hurricanes hitting peoples...and alot of people are trying to use last year as the analog season to what a normal year should be...I honestly think it is the fault of some scientists saying that last year was caused by Global Warming and that it would be the norm when really it isn't the norm...but that is how I see it, and it always seems to be the scientists that say last year is what hurricane seasons will be similar to for the next 10 years are the ones who get news articles written on them...but the ones like the NHC, who say it was a freak year, and it will not be that bad next year, do not get as much publicity for some odd reason...

So, are you saying that the entire Florida peninsula should be abandoned? People are going to live there...and more people continue to move down there. You can't let a fear of the weather keep you from living along the ocean/gulf. You just have to be smart about it and know when to leave, if you are threatened.
