I would of rather had it active this year instead of last year. Why becaues I would of been able to spend more time with my dad before he passed away this January.

Everyone interested in weather wants hurricanes to form or see tornadoes. Until you own property that is, then you want it to form but go away from you.

Just like everything else you are interested in. A doctor working in the emergency room, wants a wounded patient. A fireman wants fires to fight. Lawyers want good cases. Reporters want to cover good stories. Builders want to build the greatest building. Meteorologists want bad weather to predict.

Remember John Gumm's one dream was to save a big city from a major hurricane and he did just that. Saturday Night before Katrina was the night of his dreams, he told many people to leave, that this was the big one and he also became a daddy that same night.

thanks for the kind words hazmat.... and storm I'm sure there are thousand of MS and LA folks who feel the same as us...

Matt and Zack, I know exactly where you guys are coming from... I've been doing this hurricane tracking stuff for a long time... ever since Camille I've been facinated by storms and have been a tracking fanatic ever since... and I've lived on the beach in Biloxi since 1974, and the only storm I've ever evacuated for was Katrina... I would just love to see the storm raging in the MS sound in front of my house... it was SO EXCITING.. and I never ever thought that I could lose everything to a storm, (Camille syndrome) but trust me, after experiencing the life altering event of Katrina I need a quite season... I know we are going to see hurricanes again because that is how it is... and I'll track them and get excited too.... but for this season I just want a chance to regroup and catch my breath... Matt, you and Zack and all the other bored people can have em all this year... :D

Well, if New Orleans gets hit this year I have to stay at Fox 8. How fun, I will be staying in a building that got 8 feet of water.

If I get hit, Frank you get hit!  They can stay away from me this year, I will be chasing anyway.

If you want to send them Zack's way, he has to move to another state first.

It would be nice to at least have some EPAC activity while the Atlantic is quiet.

You mean FOX8 isn't going to run for the hills like they did last year?

Even though I don't care for WWL's weather crew anylonger, I have to give them props. They stayed on the air non stop throughout the entire storm and afterwards. They were the ONLY nonstop coverage we had....them, and WWL Radio. I also find they have the best Louisiana News Website. :D

How can you say this season is boring when we still have like 5 months left and we haven't even reached the peak. Not every seaon is going to be like last year.

Exactly, I guess some people forget how active and devastating 2004 was and we did not even get our first TD until July31! First named storm until August! We already had our first storm this year. Not boring in my book

Why is everyone picking on Bob Breck? I think it is a tie between him and Carl at WWL for the best technical show. I give the edge to Breck though because he is much more personable. Carl A. seems to have his tie on too tight, he needs to relax. I attended an AMS meeting at Fox 8 back in the early 80's and got to meet Bob. Real friendly guy, showed us around the weather desk there. WDSU IMO is the worst. Margret Orr?.....please. As I recall, most all major media weather shows got the early track of Katrina wrong. First up the EC, then Fla panhandle. Just goes to show how wrong the models can be. But remember, if hurricane forecasting was easy then it wouldn't be any fun. Tell me one forecaster that has not blown a forecast big time........MGC

No, we have to stay because Bob wants to stay. He said he will never leave again.

The only reason WWL stayed on was their transponder is on the Westbank, which didn't flood. All other channels are in Chalmette. Watch next time my house along with the entire westbank goes under water, and there goes Channel 4.
