Guys i was thinkin earlier today we have had several blow up of thunderstorms near the bahamas in 2006 so far....could this be a sign of more development close to the U.S.?maybe not but it was just a thought that crossed my mind.

Ya know it could be possible, but the only TC's I know that formed close to the U.S are from 2004: Bonnie and Matthew, from 2005: Arlene, Bret, Cindy, Ophelia, and Tammy, and from 2006: Alberto.

I don't know if Bret and Cindy should be included in there, but if you do, you need to add Gert, Jose, and Stan, as they were as close as Bret was. Katrina and Rita were both homegrown as well (from the Bahamas), and Wilma was just a touch farther out than Cindy was.

Wilma was pretty darn close to home grown, compared to CV systems or Eastern/Central Caribbean systems... you might as well through her into the mix also.

Speaking of home grown. Look at the size of that thunderstorm (not exactly a tropical wave yet) coming off of Texas! :eek:

This could be something tropical down the road.

ARGH, I leave for Europe for 16 days on FRIDAY. What am I going to do? How will I track the storms that will inevitably form when I leave the country? :eek:

About the systems by the Bahamas that are occurring that Christy said, that could be true. But not only that, if it is true, it could in fact mean this is the year where the East Coast gets battered. :eek:

*crosses fingers* please send a Category 1 to Miami but not any larger :lol:

Anyways a few waves or thunderstorms out there to monitor.

Local met stated that the ULL near the southern tip of FL may enter the GOM and might become a player in our weather for the weekend - enhancing our precip. He only mentioned that it was an ULL but that it "could" sit and spin slowly out over the GOM and we may need to watch this.
