We only got a total of 4" since Sunday here, according to my rain gauge. It's only spit a little bit this morning and afternoon. Still no sun though, and still some steady mild winds.

The surge during the eraly a.m. hours was a bit higher than what we are seeing at high tide now luckily. Its as if the high tide came in at around 3am and has stayed about the same ever since. It looks like the water is just now starting to go down. They forecasted 3-5 ft surge and it looks like we got 3ft. It breached a few spots of lower sea wall, but no flooding over the whole island liek what could have happened had it been at the 5ft level. I feel a little ridiculous now having stayed home from work in case we had to move the vehicles to higher ground during today's high tide. But I guess better to be safe than sorry. Hopefully my boss doesn't give me grief because it turned out really sunny and just breezy today where I work. Inland in the county doesn't get the wind I do on the beach.
All in all... a good practice for anyone. Hopefully people will be prepared when a bigger one hits.
