It didnt seem to be too bad of a storm here in Jax. Suns shining now as puffy clouds zip by. Wx radio did go off about 3am for tornado warnings and one seems to have touched down near the Adventure Landing on Beach blvd. EAS even sounded on the disney channel-thats what woke me up rather than the radio lol. Here's the report on the possible touchdown...

looks like it is weakening as it comes ashore. This will lead to lots less damage.

Here are some of the highest winds select cities experienced last night:

St. Petersburg:
Highest sustained - 33mph
Highest gust - 51mph

Sarasota:
Highest sustained - 31mph
Highest gust - 43mph

Tampa Intl. Airport:
Highest sustained - 26mph
Highest gust - 41mph

Peter O knight Airport (Tampa):
Highest sustained - 33mph
Highest gust - 46mph

Brooksville:
Highest sustained - 20mph
Highest gust - 41mph

**waterfront locations may have seen winds up to 10mph stronger**

The center is currently making landfall along the east Panhandle, but the strongest winds are still offshore in Alberto's left band. When this band makes landfall, areas in it's path will see 30-40mph sustained winds and gusts to 55mph.

Gainesville,
The wind is finally picking up, about 15 sustained gusting over 20.
No rain to speak of, but by the looks of the Radar we may get a fair bit later.
Hopefully the power stays up, Gainesville loves its trees though and we always get a lot of power outages with wind events. :cheesy: That would be a shame, no power and I go home for the day.

Heavily flooded by surge here with another high tide this afternoon, so could get a bit worse. Intermittent rain and wind squalls, but nothing awful. The rain is a blessing for sure.

Geeze, it's worse here than it is in Florida. We're getting absolutely dumped on & the winds are pretty strong. I'm watching 2 idiots out in the surf.

I only have a moment, )been busy) but we have had several reports on air about flooding west of US 19 from Pasco county northward. Also, additional flooding expected this afternoon. Brief video from Baynews9.com

I hope no one is trapped in that surge!! That's a big surge!! Anything over 6 feet is big, we've just become desensitized from Katrina's record surge.

Cedar Key is getting pounded right now with the highest wind report I have seen this whole storm. according to TWC, they are getting:

sustained winds - 39mph
Gusts - 49mph

This is the first official "sustained" TS force wind report I have seen.

Wind: 28 mph / 44 km/h from the SSW
Wind Gust: 40 mph / 65 km/h

A couple good squalls came through here in the past few hours. Raining like mad now. Curious to what our rain totals are going to add up to these past 2 days.
