It almost looks like a more northward movement, so Tallahassee could be in the cross hairs.


My thoughts on what to expect:

If you are in the area of the direct landfall (and associated bands):
-sustained winds of 35 to 55mph with gusts up to 60-75mph.
-Widespread minor damages.
-Scattered power outages.

Along the west coast of Fl from Sarasota to north of Tampa:
-Periods of 25 to 35mph sustained winds and gusts to 50mph (mainly in isolated bands).
-Isolated minor damages.
-Isolated power outages.

Along the big bend (outside of main circulation bands):
-35 to 45mph sustained winds with gusts to 45 to 60mph.
-Isolated/Scattered minor damages.
-Isolated/Scattered power outages.

Inland along the path of the circulation:
-20 to 40mph sustained winds with gusty squall gusts to 40 to 60mph.
-Isolated minor damages.
-Isolated power outages.

Panhandle west of landfall:
-20 to 35mph sustained winds with gusts to 50mph.
-Very isolated minor damages.
-Very isolated power outages.

Inland central Florida:
-Periods of 15 to 25mph sustained winds and gusts to 30 to 40mph in squalls.

In the area of the direct landfall (within 10 miles of the coast), expect damages like this:

Just had a mildly impressive 15 minutes with that north-south band coming through Brandon (east of Tampa). A bit gusty and heavy rain. On the local tv station doppler (Bay News 9) there were some areas of circulation near my area. It looked to me that the winds were coming from the SW at first, then the wind started looking a bit chaotic and was coming from the east as well. Everything has died down significantly now though. Looks like there's only one more (smaller) band to get through, then the bay area will be through with Alberto (well, maybe).

Winds in Apalachicola have gone from about 14mph to gusts to 31mph in just one hour! The inner "eye wall" band is approaching though, so winds from that area eastward should increase greatly by 2am.

looking at the current movement, Tallahassee may see worse conditions than first expected.

This storm has been very unpredictable since the beginning so dont be fooled by any strange development. Interesting and Fun start to the Tracking Season.

1:00 AM Advisory shows it not strengthening and landfall is literally hours away. I doubt very seriously it'll make it to Hurricane strength, probably max sustained will be in 60 - 65 mph in squalls, highest gust could very well, (even probably will) be just at or over hurricane strength... but all this will be hindsight by tomorrow morning. I agree, the storm definitely seems to have taken a slight more northerly shift; but the NHC had already to expect this before it resumed NNE to NE track. Well I'm gonna call it a night to. All you Floridians stay safe, and stay dry!
