I see some convection on the west side of the storm. Alberto refuses to die. http://www.ssd.noaa.gov/goes/flt/t1/avn.jpg

Here's a better shear map.

Thank you, now look at the map where Alberto is. If i'm reading the shear map correctly it has 0-5 knots of shear over Alberto. And that's decreasing as well. This doesn't make any sense at all.

That map shows the tendency over the last 24 hours. According to the map, shear has decreased just a little bit!

Yes the shear has decreased some but now i'm looking at the map and the center of Alberto is right over 0 knots of shear but the bands are over 20-30 knots of shear. Now why isn't the TC having any bands around the other side? I'm going to say very dry air, that's the only thing.

Is there any chance (now that there may be some organization), that since Alberto is further out towards the center of the Gulf that he can strengthen more than anticipated before?

This storm still has some juice left. Storm could become a little stronger late this eve imo. But pressure is still up 1mb.

Thanks, you're right. Another sheared storm.

Does that not count the Eastern Pacific Ocean? Because Tropical Storm Aletta when it was just about to weaken to a depression looked the worst out of any TS i have ever seen. It went poof big time before passing away.

The IR floater just now actually showed a bit of convection wrapping around the center -- just a bit. If that increases, which seems unlikely, we may yet have some semblance of a TS.

Ok, I think we are in a transition period, I think we are about to see a center consolidate further north and a tad bit east, while the huge broad center winds down, we will see

This thing is getting murdered by dry air.

The new projected path puts landfall right on Cedar Key, I was just there the day before the season started.

The only problems will be Flooding, Severe weathers and of course acts of Human foolishness.

As of now, and this is without much confidence, I have it landfalling between Horseshoe Beach and Crystal River at 40-50mph.

Looks more like a Subtropical system to me. Even the Hurricane Center thinks so.. :na:
