Will Jim Cantore be in Cedar Key?

#1 Postby seaswing » Sun Jun 11, 2006 8:48 am

I wonder if Jim Cantore will be in Cedar Key today. I see Stephanie Abrams is in Tampa but Alberto will most likely be north of there. Cedar Key is so vulnerable anyway. The pier has been closed since 2004 storms. Any surge at all threatens them.

I used to think Jim would steer a storm away from anywhere he is, until August 2005.

They usually put Stephanie a little bit farther away from the worst of it.
I dunno... do you think they'll send Jim out for a minimal TS? Maybe since it's the 1st storm of the season and TWC is hyping up 2006 Hurricane Season..

Some notibles from Cantores past that I can think of

Fran: I'll never forget this one, he got trashed in Wilmington, I was sick as a dog on my couch at 6 years old watching him get whipped around like a toy. Memorable quote, "Winds are easily Hurricane force!"

Isabel: Isabel was a comedian, first Mike Seidel and Brian Williams, then Jim and his camera crew get suprised by the surge and they fall down on the way up and the video is priceless.

Charley: Although not in the eyewall, I'll never forget watching it that afternoon, watching the winds tear through that alley behind him, Memorable quote, "Look at this! Tremendous wind!"

Frances: The Scuba truck! 8-)

Katrina: "I dont know if we're going to make it folks"

I'd be just as scared of Jeff Morrow

Fran: They couldn't reach him in Mrytle beach.

Floyd: Lost a camera and almost his head

Katrina: Got ripped around all morning long.

Ophelia: Took a beating for a cat 1

Wilma: TAR PAPER!

Well all the weather seems to be far removed from the center of cirulation, so more action might be here in Tampa.

Cantore scared me in Katrina. I was worried he'd gotten caught in the surge.
