It seems kind of ridiculous to be arguing whether this is .25 kt short of a Tropical Storm.

If it's Alberto, it's barely Alberto, and if it's not yet, it appears to be getting a little stronger at the moment.

The exact moment of when it officially becomes a TS is really of significance only to losers like me who spend Saturday afternoons on a weather forum. :cheesy:

I love June storms thankfully it is going to rain in Fl. and not move over the western gulf where it could get alttle stronger. Remember if some one asks for an advance on their job say no advance.

EDIT: and brunota said exactly what I was thinking . . .

Yeah, I had to leave for a while. There is no "program" I'm using for this. I take the last observation of each 10-minute set, place it in the GE at the correct coordinates, then make a new point on a drawn path for each coordinate. Then I take a screen shot and upload it. Kind of tedious, but that's what it is. :)

I keep getting pulled away because my girlfriend wants me to watch those stupid MTV reality shows for girls. Honestly with a girlfriend it's hard to ever get on this thing long. she is sleeping now so that is why I have a chance! :D

No problem, midday start for looking at recon tomorrow then. There have been several other people around on here at 10am my time the last few days though so it won't just be me around I'm sure. (It is usually just me between N Atlantic seasons at that time of day)

NHC may keep this storm alive in terms of continuity and because it may pose a threat, but technically without a definite closed circulation this storm is only a broad area of low pressure, not a tropical depression.
