Advice?

#1 Postby bucman1 » Fri Jun 09, 2006 2:18 pm

Good afternoon-I am up in Indianapolois and keeping up with all your
insights and have an important question!!

I am suppose to get back to Tampa ,Tuesday at 10:30AM, should i be thinking about making other plans?

When I get back I will look for the "shield" that supposedly protects Tampa
that some have been talking about.(Ha)

Thank you for your opinions.

Actually is is the fact that Tampa seems to miss every storm, while South Florida and the panhandle get pounded.

If the models are suggesting Tampa even before it's been upgraded to Tropical Depression, I think you can bank on it NOT hitting Tampa. Even then, it might only be a Tropical Storm, not really much to worry about unless they stall on top of you.

Thats my point and people in Tampa are very complacent.

This is pretty cool talking Hurricanes when I'm up in Indiana.

wouldn't be surprised if it misses you just like Charley and Wilma - if the center materializes farther east.

Did I miss something? What storm is targeted on Tampa? If that be the case, it's gotta go through me first!! Should I be moving myself to higher ground?

No. Some models are pointing towards northern big bend area. And if its only a TS That for offshore of pinellas county i would see no reason to evacuate anyone. Just some high surf and the desperately needed rain in our area.

Not to fret, Ixolib. It's just concerning the 90L Invest, and latest TWO updates on that disturbance between Cuba and the Yucatan...fairly impressive; but unless I've missed one, nothing to worry much about. From what I've seen so far, SOME development is possible, and there is SOME possibility it could wend its way into your vicinity (More likely the Big Bend area).. but at this point, as another has said, it looks more like all it will bring is some much needed rain.

Please, don't get lulled into any false sense of security.

That rumor has been around Sarasota for decades also. And the result of these mythical shields? Ask those who went through Charley and Katrina.

They will tell you about the "shields" and it's not pleasant. Don't depend on a miracle. These beasts can and will do what they want. We do not have an exact science on predicting every aspect of these storms yet. So prepare for the worst, pray for the best.
