I know everyone likes to post about what they think will happen to some system or another, but I for one would be grateful if I didn't have to sift through a whole page with no info. on it, at these times when something seems to brewing. Any other time there's no problem.

Nah, you make sense. While I think everyone is just excited to post, perhaps combining several of your thoughts into one post instead of a post every other minute would benefit everyone.
Not to mention, while discussions sometimes veer off a little, everyone should try their best to stay on topic!

O your not at all. There are way too many posts I think. All in one thread just about too. Most off topic. Jeesh and this is a invest thats hanging by a thread. Imagine a cat 2-4 bearing down somehwere in the us. Forget logging onto the board at all.

I for one think that posting one liners saying "i agree" or "not at florida" should be dissalowed.
That taxes the system horribly, by not only having to make a DB INSERT call but also by increasing the size of the result from the SELECT calls.
There really needs to be some sort of system in place for warning people on this. The board is going to fall apart when a real storm or two or three
are out there threatening the coast. And it would be a tragedy if i had no access to the site again.
Summation: "Worthless opinion, off topic, or one liners need not be permited." IMHO

I completely agree and have been thinking about this for the past few months. This is NOT a chatroom. This is a message board. Two completely different things...

I agree with the theory, but I don't see it happening, unfortunately. This has been requested over and over since I've been on this board and seems to fall on deaf fingers for those who have to *share their excitement/opinion/worry/hope/expectation/forecast/disagreement. I can get pretty excited myself, but maybe it's the age thing...taking a deep breath (which I admit, I don't always do) before reacting rather than responding, seems to come with some maturity. I know I'm guilty of going off sometimes when I just can't stand it anymore here, I KNOW that! But youth is in the *immediate* zone...it's happening right NOW and the most IMPORTANT THING. It makes me think of a joke, if I remember it right. An old bull and a young stud are on a hill, looking down on a herd of cows. The young stud says, Let's run down there and grab one of them purty heifers, they'll run like hell, but we'll target one and she'll never know what hit her!!! The old bull says...let's stroll down there and get 'em all.

I just realized I didn't phrase that correctly. I meant more along the lines of posting non-sense opinions on things like "That thing is a monster its going to keep getting more huge-er" lol if you catch my drift.
Having to read tons of those comments to find the ones i want to read is going to put me in the loony-bin.

I agree with much of what is said here. It's been proven time and again, when something really bad is happening, the board slows down to an excrutiating crawl, choked by gazillions of messages, many one-liners or two worders, or off-topic, or silly questions, or even sillier speculations.
The time to develop good habits is before something becomes critical. When I see something blatant, I try to carefully make a constructive comment. But, like MJ said, above, much of it is youthful enthusiasm, which is difficult for me to even wish to suppress - got to admire it, in a way! Ahhhh.... those were the days!
Let's hope when things get busy that most will just read, and only post if they know it will help the rest of the readers.
P.S. - MJ, I get it! Guess I'm old (no doubt about it!) LOL!
