The way our board's software runs is that when you click on a topic to read it the board reads every post involved out of the database and then gives you the first 20 posts. With 20 posts per page a 50 page thread would cause over 1000 database reads. Now take a thread like recon/advisories etc which sometime have 50-60 doing that at once the load can get overwhelming. By minimizing the number of pages we cut down on the impact of this shortcoming. We are also looking into a board modification that would change the behavior of the board but until we know a little more we're going to keep the limit as it is. Thanks for your understanding.

Don't get stuck on stupid -- adapt and overcome.

If it's an important post, it will be quoted in the new start of the thread. So far, as least that's what I've seen. And when a major system comes along, I can pretty safely assume (yeah yeah, I know what assume means) that it will reinforce what I have seen even more.
You go Mods!! And thanks early on, for making this board available in the best ways possible.

MJ,Also the members can go to the other threads as they are posted at the first post of each new thread and that makes also an easy search.

If the point is that there is a limit at 10 pages, perhaps the page number could be limited by people not simply posting to post. Often times I peruse a thread and find a post that simply says..."I agree" or has a smiling emoticon.
I would think that the thread and ultimately the page count could be limited by posting thoughtful responses. If you agree with a poster then fire an IM to them letting them know how great you think they are.
