I get this sinking feeling its going to ramp up...

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

If we had a season like 2001 that would be nice. Plenty of storms (15) but none hit the US.

tgenius wrote:It is only the first week of hurricane season, but the conditions all over just don't favor any development for the immediate future. I'm just getting that sinking feeling (and no, it wasn't from dinner last night not settling right ) That come Aug/Sept/Oct the train of storms is going to be prevalent. I know I'm no expert and of course this is just my 2c.. :)

I'm just doing the Mother thing and putting my arms around all of us who feel those sinking feelings...not being able to know or control our lives in the biggest of ways strikes many of us at our core - regardless of so many factors, we want to be able to keep ourselves, our loved ones, our hard worked for *things* safe. But we also know we live in areas where there is not a thing we can do if, despite all our preps, a big one comes along. So...I can only advise what life is like here and what we talk about all the time...hope for the best, prepare for the worst and live each day (NOT just in hurricane season) like the worst could happen, meaning, love the ones you love, be kind to the rest to best you are able. Live like you want to have no regrets. And laugh a LOT!!! Because despite the oh so bad things, life is pretty funny, if you look at it sideways from under your armpit.

My goodness people it is only June 5th. I am hoping for all fishes and no storms to hit the US or the islands. Of course I know that is probably just a dream.

I remember around the time of Irene people kept saying how dead the season was, then came Katrina.

Maybe if we keep saying how active it is then it will have a reverse effect :cheesy:

It reminds me of a time when I was really young, being taken to the Greyhound races in Daytona, the dogs all skittery, strung out on the smell of the rabbit...waiting for the bell to ring and the gates to open...;)

First storm in 2004 formed July 31. As for 1992, Andrew formed in mid August. 2006 may be similar, with a late start.

Yup, that wouldn't surprise me in the slightest. And as awful as it sounds... I've never experienced a hurricane. And i'd like to before I head [muchmuch] further inland for college. :( And college begins 3rd week of August. Sigh.

Experiencing a hurricane is not fun. Yes it is exciting but when the wind is bolwing so hard that it is taking the buildings around you apart it becomes very scary! Been there....... Don't get in a hurry to be in the middle of one.
