I am a regular on a cruise forum, and I was referred here when I asked for thoughts on any storms on my upcoming cruise.
I will be cruising the Western Caribbean (Port Canaveral, FL to Haiti to Jamaica to Cozumel to Grand Cayman back to FL) on the Mariner of the Seas June 18-25. I know storms are a risk of cruising during hurricane season, but I was wondering if any of you smarty pants had ideas about if and when we will experience storms, and if they will be intense enough to miss a port of call.
Thank you so much for letting me butt in on your conversation!
So what do you think??

I've been doing quite a bit of research on hurricane activity in the NW Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico over the past few years. I've found that there's a strange small peak in activity that occurs the 2nd week of June, around June 8th-10th followed by a sharp lull in late June through the 1st week of July. Generally, tropical cyclones are rare in the NW Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico around the time of your cruise, but there are no guarantees. So far this year, there are indications that the season will get off to a slow start, meaning not much activity until August.
So, enjoy your cruise, but check back here before you depart.

Hi Here,
Big welcome from me, too. FWIW, riding out a storm on one of the big ships can be more exciting than the port stops, IMO, and the captain will make sure that you are safe.

I remember being glued to storm2k the last time the first week of July rolled around...and I also remember how insane it was that we were dealing with that kind of activity that early.

Welcome to S2K. Hope you have a safe trip, I think you will be okay too. And like Seabz said your captian will make sure you are safe. Have fun Royal Caribbean is an awsome cruise line I was on the Soveirgn of the Seas not long ago out of Cape Canaveral.
