Katrina, The lost episode
Tomorrow the weather channel will be airing an "It can happen Tomorrow" episode. The show never aired because, well, it happened. Should be quite interesting.

I believe that the scenario depicted by TWC did NOT actually happen. I believe it was a direct hit from a cat 3, not the western eye wall of a collapsing cat 3.
This from the previews seems as if it will be a recap of Katrina, along with a what would have happened had it have hit at 150KT directly in the center of the city
I any event, TWC is only 1 year late with this

I plan on watching it just to see. Worse case scenerio for both me and New Orleans is the track on your advatar. It was still scary when it looked like the eyewall of Katrina was headed straight for me.

Actually, it isn't a year late, it's just 6 months late.
The series "It Could Happen Tomorrow" premiered in January of this year, although many episodes were filmed and completed some time ago. The debut episode, scripted before Katrina, was going to be one about a Cat 5 hitting New Orleans. In light of the events of last season, they pulled that episode and went with another one for their pilot. Originally, they planned to never air that episode....

The original pilot created for the series, developed and completed a year ago by The Weather Channel, is a “lost episode” that will never be aired – it eerily predicted the “what if” scenario of a major hurricane hitting New Orleans. When viewed today with the imprint of Katrina still in our minds, it is chilling to realize that the production was so prescient.
“Though our viewers will never see this episode, it does illustrate how likely it is that the potential weather events we cover will actually happen,” noted Wonya Lucas, Executive Vice President and General Manager of The Weather Channel. “When this worst-case scenario came true, it brought home to us how important it is to present this type of series to the public.”
Not sure what changed their minds.

I am watching TWC now. They are having footage of the day before Katrina hit. Brings back so many memories. Feels like yesterday. Never will I forget the only time I ever fleed from a storm. I will never forget the nervous looks on the people faces as they waited for lines a mile long. Not knowing what was going to become of them.
