Songs that can be related to hurricanes

#1 Postby spinfan4eva » Sun Jun 04, 2006 2:45 pm

Theres obvious songs like rock ya like a hurricane but theres others that words in the song can describe a hurricane or hurricane season. Feel free to add your own. Make a good hurricane interception album maybe 8-)

Eyes without a face
Boys of summer
turn turn turn
wipe out
the end of the world as we know it
Hit me with your best shot
under pressure
Africa
You Spin me around
Here comes the rain again
Kokomo
Jammin
Dont come around here no more
dancing in the dark
Eye of the tiger
Every breath you take
Another day in Paradise
In the air tonite

Jumpin' Jack Flash (Rolling Stones):

"I was born in a cross-fire hurricane
And I howled at my ma in the driving rain"

:?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?:

I can't believe no one has mentioned this one yet: Trying to Reason with Hurricane Season, by Jimmy Buffett.

Actually, if you want a perfect batch of hurricane songs, just pick up Buffett's album "Songs You Know By Heart," one of the five best albums ever complied.

There's Always Tomorrow" Gloria Estefan

It was only available on the single for South Florida victims of Hurricane Andrew, which still seems like yesterday whenever I hear that song.

Also, on the flip side the is "I'm only happy when it rains" by Garbage.

We did an "oops" last year with that one.

A couple from New Orleans got married here (they lost everything in Katrina) and we helped with the arrangements, including putting the music together for the reception. Among their group requests, they wanted CCR and I inadvertently included Bad Moon Rising on one of the CDs...

A hush fell over everyone as that part of the song played, but the new bride got up and started dancing. She indicated that it was definitely a night of renewal and of moving forward.

Might not seem like they have anything to do with hurricane season, but for those of us who evacuated during Rita:

"Galveston" by Glen Campbell
"We're Ready" by Boston
"Life In The Fast Lane" by The Eagles (obviously sarcastic inclusion)
"I Can't Drive 55" by Sammy Hagar
"Convoy" by C.W. McCall
"Hitchin' A Ride" by Vanity Fair
"It's Gonna Take Some Time" by The Carpenters
"Bring Me Some Water" by Melissa Etheridge
"I Drove All Night" by Cyndi Lauper
"The Long and Winding Road" by The Beatles
"Get Here" by Oleta Adams
"Stay For Awhile" by Amy Grant
"It's Over" by Roy Orbison
"Going Home" by Alice Cooper
"Home Where I Belong" by B.J. Thomas

My first response was "Bad Moon Rising" which has already been mentioned, but how about
"should I stay or should I go now?"

Riders on the Storm.........The Doors

There's a killer on the road
His brain is squirmin' like a toad
Take a long holiday
Let your children play
If ya give this man a ride
Sweet memory will die
Killer on the road, yeah

"Down at the Twist and Shout" - Mary Chapin Carpenter

...They got an alligator stew and a crawfish pie
A gulf storm blowing into town tonight
Living on the delta's quite a show
They got hurricane parties every time it blows..
