Free speech is good. Just ignore the people I disagree with.

I agree and I respect the mod's in here enough to know they can handle it. This is buyer beware and there are enough intelligent people in here to call a wishcaster out when they do it.

Problem with this board though is some people take some of these yahoo people I disagree with seriously. Where's the disclaimer that is supposed to be posted on forecasts?

Well all the hurricanes can stay over open waters away from land and not touch
anyone...I do not wish for them...they are SCARY...all the HORRIFIC SURGE AND DEADLY WINDS...
also the DAMAGE and your life is RUINED if you get hit...plus if people you know DIE then it's a horrific tragedy

I CAN SUM UP THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN HURRICANES AND HUMANS IN ONE EQUALITY STATEMENT:

HURRICANE HITTING = HELL ON EARTH AT POINT OF LANDFALL AND
AREAS NEAR LANDFALL

[quote="Scorpion"]This is a hurricane-enthusiast board. I would be extremely disappointed if there were less than 3 majors this year.[/quote

Maybe we should have took you on some of the missions in New Orleans to rescue families and dig dead bodies out of their homes after Katrina maybe that might give you a better perspective on hurricanes and your enthusiasm for them. Ah to be young and idealistic again.

REGARDLESS of whatever ANYONE might say...NO ONE TRULY WISHES FOR A HURRICANE....No one wishes for PROLONGED EXTREME MISERY.

So I will interpret anyone who wishes for one as being sarcastic, joking, or lying....because truly no one wishes for hurricanes...hurricanes are BAD for anyone living in vulnerable areas.

I interpret people I disagree with as ones who may not be sarcastic, joking, or lying, but are oblivious to the dangers and hardships of such storms.

Miami still has many blue tarp districts. This region cannot withstand a strong TS, much less a major hurricane

You're right Derek, South Florida, the Panhandle, AL, MS, NOLA and
SWLA + NE Texas all can't take it right now. We're all too vulnerable.

Bolded portion above is good advice!! We have said it over and over again. Let the mods and admins take care of it. Do not try to deal with it yourself.

I like this site. One of the reasons I come here is because I can talk to level headed people who know what they are talking. I don't think anyone is wishing for a storm or should I rephrase that nobody here seems like the type that would wish a storm on someone. We know that someone is more than likely going to get a storm here and it is nice to have a site that one can come to and let all of the fears out before and after.

Unless we have fairy godmother's or Aladdins lamp among us, that can produce wishes, this topic is ludicrous. If anyone here has the abilitiy to produce such, let me know. I certainly could use some help right now.

I wouldn't mind experiencing a Cat 5...I would want to chase it. I guess I can be qualified as a thrill-seeker.

And how would you experience ?. No human can stand outside in a CAT5 and survive it!!!! Why do you think we have no or very few measurements of CAT5 winds? Why do you think we have very few films of CAT5 conditions? Same reason. None of the equipment can stand it!! When you are crawling out from under the debris that was your "safe house", if you can, then get back to me. Trust me, you have experienced nothing when it comes to storms if you can truly wish a CAT5 to come through where you live. BTDT, and don't want to experience it again and it wasn't/they weren't a CAT5 where I was.

I would chase it in my car. Get in a concrete parking garage and film the winds. Shouldn't be dangerous.

If you think that will save you, someday you'll be in the annual "Darwin Awards" email that comes out every January.

Dude - just go to Orlando and ride a nice roller coaster or Dr. Doom's Fearfall. Repeat if necessary. That should do the trick.

remember Charley, Scorpion?

Re-enforced concrete structures were LEVELED by upper cat 4 or lower cat 5 winds

THERE IS NO SAFE PLACE IN TRUE CAT 5 WINDS, NONE

If a 5 is threatening MIA, there is a chance that I will NOT remain on the Rickenbacker (though depending upon any obligations I have for the GOM), and if I leave my office during an MIA hurricane, you know its a bad one

Hey scorpion the thrill of a hurricane is substantially diminished when a CAT 3+ is approaching with winds as high as 180mph gusts. The metro areas of South Florida have not seen that in a *long* time. Don't be surprised if very little is left after that here - so I would not wish upon a storm like that here....
