I never understood the excitement over fish storms. Sure, they don't harm anyone; however it also hurts hurricane enthusiasts who enjoy tracking and chasing these storms. It also greatly reduces the excitement during hurricane season. Think about it, would people really care that much about the latest runs if the hurricane was in the middle of the Atlantic?

Many say they want all storms to be fish. However, there are some that want the eye to pass right over there house. Fish storms do not interest me in the least. It's about exciting as watching paint dry. Please don't get me wrong, I don't wish a storm on anyone, but fish storms are boring. Just being honest here.

Fish storms mean that a storm doesn't hurt anyone. Maybe fish storms give the hurricane experts pratice on making their forecasts.
I just wonder why some people get excited this time of the year. Until last year, I was one of those people. Then some hurricane called Katrina came here and changed my life forever. Granted my area didn't get the full effect of her wrath, but it was just enough to do a number on my area. "Help Wanted" signs are still out in businesses here in LaPlace. I hear talk about rebuilding New Orleans on 870 WWL. My Wal-Mart is still running on limited hours.
Remember, hurricanes just don't damage homes, they also wreck the economy in the affected area. They also change people.

trust me I know. I lost everything in Katrina. I had a huge tree go directly through my home. Have a new place to live now though. So I know where your coming from. I just don't think as many people get excited about fish storms as they say they do. JMHO.

It's still interesting to watch the storms develop. You can still learn alot from "fish" hurricanes. Plus with fish storms, us property owners, don't have the additional worry about our homes.

Alllll right......IT'S ON! Let the tracking, speculating and pontificating begin!
I am not ashamed to say that I actually enjoyed Katrina 1.0 and Wilma last year....nor will I make any apologies for saying it. Wilma in particular provided me with a much-needed break from grad school. It was a welcome downshift to a much simpler life....one where you get up, scrounge up something to eat, do a little yard work, do some reading, and go to sleep at sundown.
Plus, it was awesome to step outside at night and actually be able to view the stars. You just can't do that in our ridiculous over-lit city.

So you would rather have a storm hit land and destroy homes and take lives so the hurricane enthusiasts are happy?Scorpion wrote:I never understood the excitement over fish storms. I use to not like fish storms either for your same reason, but after going through Ivan and Dennis and seeing what Katrina did,I really wouldn't mind more fishes.

Yeah some people enjoy tracking storms no matter where they are.

Athough this is a type of creature I would associate with a lot af destruction...Dont know if it would catch on like fish storm has...
Here is a type of question that would come up..
Is this a fish or a________storm? Most of the time we just put a state.
Don't know if Dragon would be catchy enough....
