Just kidding it is the "most impressive" thing on the map right now...I'm glad areas in parched Texas are getting some much needed rain! :D

Yup, it was impressive for a while. Just think...it could've actually had a chance given more time and water. This was the 3rd or 4th system in the western gulf like this in the past 3 - 4 weeks. Each one of them looked better and better. One of them will eventually give us something to really watch.

I sure hope not. I don't even want to see an invest until mid August.

:D Sorry i even brought this up yesterday. But there was a surface circulation Tuesday afternoon looking at Buoy data in the western Gulf. I've seen these things develop like this more than once. It just needed a little more time.

I was at the Houston/Galveston hurricane workshop Tuesday afternoon but had a wireless connection to my laptop in my booth. A met from another weather company came over and mentioned the westerly wind at buoy 42002 and that there was apparently a weak LLC out there. But the buoy was experiencing an outflow boundary from collapsing thunderstorms to its west. The west wind lasted only 30 minutes or so then shifted back from the east. So I don't think there was ever any closed LLC along the coast.

For some reason, everyone seems a tad "jumpy" at the start of the 2006 season. Can't imagine why....

No need to apologize,it was actually one of the first blobs this year that actually had some real potential to develop, IMO.And it's not like we had anything else to talk about.

Any chance the 1012 low hugging the Texas Coast near Corpus will move back out to sea? Anyone?

There is a Cold front moving south that could, it probably push it NE, might mean more rain for Houston area.

I agree 100 percent it was very close. I'm not jumpy just stating facts if a west wind forms it would of got it.
