Internship @ NBC 6 / T - 51

#1 Postby HURAKAN » Tue May 23, 2006 1:18 pm

Starting today at 3 PM, I will be doing an internship in Telemundo and NBC Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. Tu & Th I will be working with T - 51, and Fridays with NBC.

My work will be to assist the Meteorologist with the graphics, and in the case of a tropical storm or hurricane, go live from the scene of action!!!

Sandy.

Wow Sandy....that's awesome! I know you're excited. :D

That scene of action thing might get kinda risky though.

Congrats fellow intern. I thought internships were only done in NY and CA? Didn't know you can split the two companies that way. I will have to complain. Not. My buddy helped me get through the door. He was interning for a sports broadcaster in LA.

NBCintern,

NBC bought T-51, so the offices of NBC 6 & T-51 are together. When I applied, they immediately told me about doing the internship in both languages and I accepted. I think it's a great opportunity in which I will learn a lot more about weather and the way it's commercialized to attract the public. Nevertheless, weather is not a major component to the news channels except if there is a hurricane or a major storm for that matter.

Thanks everyone and I will be there until middle or late August. I don't expect them to send me to a major hurricane landfall, I wouldn't go either, but if there is the possibility of going to cover a tropical storm or a minor hurricane, I will take the opportunity for sure.

Wow... I interned at the CBS affiliate here back about 5 years ago. At the end of my internship, I was offered the weekend weather job. True, it was a much smaller market, but nonetheless an internship opportunity is huge no matter what size. The fact you are interning in a fairly large market is wonderful! Way to go!!!
