Hurricane Alley May 2006 landfall is out

#1 Postby cajungal » Tue May 23, 2006 1:43 pm

Hurricane Alley May 2006 landfall is out. They finally updated their site. go to hurricanealley.net. If I am reading it correctly, they only give Texas on the gulf coast to get hit by a hurricane. Everybody else on the gulf coast, they give basically a 0 chance of getting by a hurricane this year. Take this with a grain of salt, my friends.

Yep, considering the Upper Texas Coast is mislabeled "Northeast Texas"

The sad thing is is that there are actually people out there that will probably believe this forecast and let their gaurd down. That's why I don't like these landfalling forecasts, they are very misleading and people tend to take them too seriously.

Does that drive you nuts as well? Northeast Texas is Longview, etc. It doesn't seem that difficult.

I agree. In reality, Texas could get 0 storms while every other state along the Gulf Coast gets hit. It all depends on the setup at the time a storm is brewing.

I don't buy this only East Coast will see a hurricane landfall this year. Northern Gulf Coast is still on the edge. And I understand greatly why. Northern Gulf Coast is by no means in the clear this year. Even local meterologists from our area are showing concern. We discussed it at our storm2k gathering and everyone I talked to is still concerned about this area seeing another hit this year.

That is just crazy. The Gulf Coast is just as hurricane stuff this year as the east coast is.

I hope they (Hurricane Alley) are right and we at least see no "major" landfalls along the Northern Gulf Coasts. The good thing is the odds are highly against a repeat of 2005 for those poor folks. I personally just don't see it happening this year or for the next several. Just my opinion.

*Hands everyone along the coast a grain of salt* Before I give it to you, you have to tell me what size you need.

Sure come on in. We made sure we have lots of salt stocked up for this upcoming preseason cause we knew that a lot of people would be chewing on it.

You may say that but lets remember Gray's team will be doing the same in a few days. What if they have the results and impacts for the most part? Will we still laugh it off?I think this is new research ideas we are entering into.Just like people laughed at Dr Gray 15 or more years ago this might also come to futation one day.

Well Dr. Gray's forecasts have proven themselves over the course of many years...if Hurricane Alley can do that, then may be they will earn more and more respect in the future as well.

according to Hurricane Alley...Texas should see:

Total Storm Hours = 14.33 hrs.
Total Hurricane Hours = 10.33 hrs.
Total Major Hurricane Hours = 4.17 hrs.

Yea from what I understand is that they may issue a synoptic pattern at the end of the month basically what the Alley is doing for a long term.
