2006 Early Season words of wisdom.. read please :)
For anyone that may be new here or is as excited as I am at the approach of 2006 season, here's a few side notes.
1. When it begins to get very active. Remember, we all have feelings. Anxiety,Excitement, maybe worry. So lets try not to flame nobody and lets all understand our views with open minds.
2. Just because someone "forecasts" a storm {ie 1 of us} is coming to {insert a place}doesn't mean we're "wishing it there".
3. Remember to pray for I or any other members when and if we become in the path of a storm, especially a major.
4. On a more serious note. If you are threatened by a major storm and are in a flood area or evac zone {especially coastal,} GET OUT. It may save your life.
5. STOCK UP ON SUPPLIES YOU MAY NEED. I lost power for 11 days after Charley in 2004 and was on a bread and cereal diet lol. But at least I had food and had a lot of water too. It may not be glamorous but it'll teach you to survive.
6. FINALLY.. Regardless of whether a storm hits Galveston, Tampa, Portland.. wherever. It only takes 1 to make "your" season.
BE PREPARED & BRING ON 2006!

John: I bought one last year and it has been a great addition to my hurricane supplies. I leave it plugged in all year round. It alerts whenever there are sever thunderstorm as well as tornado watches/warnings. Last year I used it to get NOAA and NWS statements about hurricanes and TS that were near. A good investment! I highly recommend. The alarm will scare the hell out of you in the middle of the night thoughJosephine96 wrote:I still need a new weather radio.. I better get it by June 1

And don't forget to stock up on a month of medication that you may need. My grandparents anxiety level was so high and they were so rushed up evacuting from their home in Picayune, MS. That they forgot all their medications at home! I think they went at least a week without their essential medicine. My grandmother is a diabetic and suffers from other ailments as well. And my grandpa is in the beginning stages of alzehimers. (sp)
