This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

When and Where will Alberto form?

#1 Postby cycloneye » Thu May 18, 2006 7:56 pm

Well this is a combined 2 part question about when and where will the first named storm will form.

I say Alberto will form on June 18 in the Western Caribbean.

Here's a link to your other polls:

When will the first named storm (Alberto) form?
Where will Alberto Form?

I'm going to have to go with July 11-20 in the Western Caribbean.

June 15th in the southern Gulf of Mexico. Alberto will then track northward and make landfall in the Houston/Galveston area as a 70mph tropical storm.

I think theres a little bit of -removed- in there, EWG...lol...the perfect storm to ride out...strong enough to be exciting but wont cause major damage and goes straight into youre area...possible if the current pattern keeps up, it wont even be there with all of that shear (at least the last time i checked there was a lot of shear in the gulf)

In the NW Carribbean for Where since that's where SST's are most conducive and where shear is the lowest....in other places such as the GOM and Eastern Atlantic Shear is too high due to Westerlies in the GOM and cold fronts in the Eastern Atlantic...so the most conducive area is NW Carribean IMO...and also the Cape Verde area is not conducive since Cape Verde season does not come into full swing until late July or early August.
