Ultimate Beast is in the eye of the beholder--and on the receiving end... at her peak Katrina was IMO as impressive as ANY GOM storm, the max winds weren't all that far apart, and Kat was much larger...to me (and doubtless Miss, W Alabama,) it will always be Katrina... to Texans---probably Carla, or the Galveston Storm, to So. Floridians... Andrew..to the Panhandle area--Opal... Ala/Fla area, Ivan.... all individual perspective.
And yes, officially, Tip was the ultimate tropical beast... at least "officially"...
