Level 3 Radar
Does anyone know any level three realtime radar services? I use Weather Tap now and was just wondering if there was anything better either subscription based or free.

Would anyone have any thoughts on Stormlab 3.1 software -- http://www.interwarn.com === The trial version seems a little overly complex, however I have just started feeling my way around in it. Thank you for any input.

I use Weathertap's Radarlab GIS utilizing GIS files for my county. I can't think of a finer program for bringing severe weather down to the block level in your community. It does cost $16.95 a month though.
Having said that I can't think of a better or more integrated package than Weathertap for the price $6.95 a month. Like anything else everyone has their own preferences so whatever you get enjoy it!

I have had stormlab 3.1 pro since last june and like it. Its only as complex as you make it. Worked great yesterday as the mia radars was working overtime. Send me a PM if you want more info.Decomdoug wrote:Would anyone have any thoughts on Stormlab 3.1 software -- http://www.interwarn.com === The trial version seems a little overly complex, however I have just started feeling my way around in it. I currently use GRLevel3. I rank it the best of the radar programs I have tried, which is quite a few. Nexrad3 is probably a close 2nd.
Both allow you to zoom to street level.
Advantage of Grlevel3 is you can zoom in and out easily. You can customize each location to add icons and places. http://www.grlevelx.com
Advantage of Nexrad3 is you add places but no icons and while zooming is not possible (you have to create your own maps) you can add multiple radars to each map. http://www.hurricanealley.net/nexrad3.html

I also use GRLevel3. I've been having it since before it was publically available. It is IMO the best there is. I subscribe to Allisonhouse for my dynamic placefiles and Level 3 data.
I've used them all before..StormLab, SwiftFX, Storm Predator, etc. and none come close to GR3....of course, still my opinion!

Amazing that thing was working period.. NEVER seen a more unreliable setup than MIA radar..
GR3 rocks..
i meant stormlab worked great yesterday, i belive stormlab and gr3 are both taking feeds from MIA radar so our programs are only as good as the MIA feed.

SG...that's the flat, one time fee for GR3. If you use the NWS servers for their radar data, then it'll always be free. I subsbribe to Allisonhouse's data because it's more reliable. Plus you get TONs of other data such as metar, satellite overlay, hurricane tracks, watch boxes, lightning strikes....the list goes on and on. Allisonhouse data is only like $12 or $15 a month.

Thanks Paul and skysummit. So if I get GRLevel3, I need to use the NWS servers? And it's not as reliable without AllisonHouse? I guess I can figure all this out as it comes up.
Do you need AllisonHouse to zoom to street level? I'm thinking this will be VERY handy during severe weather threats.

The NWS servers are free.. Allison House is much more reliable plus they have alot of addons.. The have the maps for zooming free..
We use this stuff at IPR.

No SG. AllisonHouse is another outlet for radar. The zoom to streetlevel is good for whichever server you get the radar from. The difference between Allisonhouse and NWS data may only be from a few seconds to a minute or so. If you need those extra seconds for storm chasing than go with Allisonhouse. If not the NWS should be fine for most.
