To all in South Florida - let this heavy rain today continue!

Bocadude85 - you ought to get your fair share now.....

timing is about right, usually by mid May - we start to see our rain....and by June it is pretty routine.

I don't see any fires anymore 8-)

AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE MIAMI FL
252 PM EDT MON MAY 15 2006

.DISCUSSION...POTENT STORMS FIRED UP RAPIDLY OVER THE EAST COAST
METRO AREAS AS EXPECTED. HAIL UP TO QUARTER AND GOLF BALL SIZE
ALREADY REPORTED. ACTIVITY LIKELY TO PERSIST FOR A FEW MORE HOURS.
SOME REDEVELOPMENT TO THE WEST A GOOD POSSIBILITY. MOS GUIDANCE
CONTINUES VERY WET NEXT THREE PERIODS. FORECASTS WILL REFLECT THIS
WITH 60 TO 80 POPS MOST AREAS THROUGH TUESDAY NIGHT. GFS CONTINUES
TO PRODUCE SOME ODD FEATURES ACROSS THE AREA IN THE SHORTER
TERM...UNDOUBTEDLY DUE TO CONVECTIVE FEEDBACK. NAM PRODUCING
BETTER GUIDANCE. APPROACHING COLD FRONT SHOULD STALL ACROSS SOUTH
FLORIDA LATE TUESDAY INTO TUESDAY NIGHT THEN MOVE OFF THE FLORIDA
PENINSULA WEDNESDAY. RESPECTABLE UPPER DYNAMICS ACROSS SOUTH
FLORIDA TUESDAY MAY HELP PRODUCE A FEW STRONG STORMS...ONLY
PROBLEM BEING LACK OF INSTABILITY. WILL WATCH.
OTHERWISE...IMPULSES MOVING WEST TO EAST OVER THE STALLED FRONT
WILL KEEP RAIN COMING THROUGH EARLY WEDNESDAY. HIGH PRESSURE WILL
BUILD INTO THE AREA THE REMAINDER OF THE WEEK WITH ANOTHER SHOT OF
LATE SEASON "COOLER" AIR ON TAP.

AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE MIAMI FL
522 AM EDT TUE MAY 16 2006

...ISOLATED SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS POSSIBLE TODAY AND TONIGHT...
...LOCALLY HEAVY RAINFALL POSSIBLE AS WELL...

.DISCUSSION...WATER VAPOR IMAGERY SHOWS A LARGE TROUGH OVER THE
EASTERN STATES...WITH A POTENT SHORTWAVE NOW DIGGING INTO THE
WESTERN GULF OF MEXICO. THIS SHORTWAVE WILL ROTATE EAST TOWARDS
THE FLORIDA PENINSULA THROUGH TONIGHT. AS IT DOES SO...THE LOCAL
AREA WILL REMAIN IN AN AREA OF STRONG UPPER LEVEL DIVERGENCE.
COLD FRONTAL BOUNDARY IS IN PLACE ACROSS CENTRAL FLORIDA. THIS
FRONT IS FORECAST TO SAG SOUTH INTO THE AREA BY TONIGHT...ACTING AS AN
ADDITIONAL FOCUSING MECHANISM FOR THUNDERSTORM DEVELOPMENT. ONE
COMPLEX OF STORMS TRACKED ACROSS SOUTH FLORIDA THIS MORNING...AND
SATELLITE IMAGERY SHOWS ADDITIONAL CONVECTION DEVELOPING UPSTREAM
OVER THE GULF OF MEXICO. DEEP TROPICAL MOISTURE WILL REMAIN IN
PLACE THROUGH LATE TONIGHT...WITH PRECIPITABLE WATER NEAR 2
INCHES. THUS...GIVEN THE TROPICAL AIRMASS IN PLACE ALONG WITH THE
VERY HEALTHY UPPER DYNAMICS...AM EXPECTING ROUNDS OF THUNDERSTORMS
TO CONTINUE TO AFFECT THE AREA THROUGH EARLY WEDNESDAY MORNING...UNTIL
THE COLD FRONT CLEARS THE AREA. THERE WILL CONTINUE TO BE THE POSSIBILITY
FOR ISOLATED SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS ALONG WITH LOCALLY HEAVY
RAINFALL.

WEATHER CONDITIONS WILL IMPROVE THROUGHOUT THE DAY WEDNESDAY...AS
THE FRONT EXITS THE AREA. THEN MUCH DRIER AIR WILL SETTLE INTO
SOUTH FLORIDA FOR THE LATTER PART OF THE WEEK. MOISTURE WILL BEGIN
TO MAKE A RETURN SUNDAY INTO THE EARLY PART OF NEXT WEEK...BRINGING
BACK THE POSSIBILITY FOR THUNDERSTORMS.

Forget about it. The rainy season seems to be here right on time.

Yesterday around 4:45pm I was driving North on the turnpike around NW 41/Doral. I have never seen a hail storm so bad in Sofla. Basically, all cars were just parked on the pike....traffic to a complete stop! I thought for sure my car would have sustained damage (it didn't..amazing!) and my 3 year old was totally freaked out! "Mommy I want to be home!!". Quite a storm yesterday afternoon. A few small trees down in the neighborhood (could have been Wilma weak) and some of my patio furniture blown over. Nothing major, but then at 2am.....The lighting storm we had! Let's hope that that's as bad as it gets this summer!

This morning is overcast.....but quiet.

Most of Florida is still well below normal.

Even with these last few fronts, most areas are below normal rainfall for the year:

Most of the state is 30-50% of normal rainfall.
