I work with some folks that are attending the conference all week. My understanding from what they heard is that this year's season will be well above normal because the SSTs among other factors are still unusually high in the Atlantic. Nothing we have not heard already of course just another confirmation of what we all know here. I'm Mike and the others will address this in their podcasts.

One of our local Mets from here in Panama City(Jason Kelly) has been invited to be a guest on one of the round table discussions about how to more effectively alert the public to the threat of tropical activity...he is an avid tropical weather enthusiast and gives excellent discussions on tropical activity in the Atlantic, Carribean or Gulf...
