Wetter Than Normal In Texas= Higher CHance For GOM Canes?

The weather here in North texas,and throughout most of the state has been wetter than normal for the first 8 days of May.Does this mean Gulf conditions will be more favorable for canes this season if the present conditions persist into the summer? :?:

You're wetter than normal down there? That's actually good, I was really concerned about the drought.

Do you think it will last?

(I know this is unrelated to your question, but you guys really have needed the rain.)

Its done alot of good 8-)

The grass is growing tall,the wild flowers have bloomed..Eveything has greened up so nicely.Looks like we have busted out of the drought

I don't know the answer to your question, but a lot of Texas is still suffering from the drought. It seems the same areas keep getting rain while the same other areas keep getting missed.

If the weather is rainy in the southern U.S., it implies a trough over the eastern CONUS, which favors East Coast, rather than Gulf Coast, hurricanes. But I HIGHLY doubt this pattern will remain for too long of a time, it will probably reverse later this month IMO.

Don't feel too bad Texas, Florida is in the same situation, fires and droughts are becoming a problem.

Not sure if this should be under preparedness for hurricane season but correct me if I'm wrong ---> Though us Floridians and Texas need rain there maybe no dodging disasters this year we may need to prepare for floods from hurricanes or prepare for fires. Because of the drought... the rain we get from tropical system may cause big flooding problems because the soil is weak and crumbly.... so it will not be able to absorb the rain and thats probably what catches a lot of people off gaurd. Though tropical storms don't do much, it probably can if ur having drought problems. However if we don't get the rain we will be frying like a hot oven. So lets hope for steady rain falls

We've had a little rain, but the drought is still with us here too in SW Louisiana. I noticed on the local weather report on TV yesterday that water temps in the GOM off of Louisiana are already at 79 degrees and in some spots are already above. Not a good sign!
