Have you ever seen photographs of Lituya Bay? It would be extremely difficult to get a run up of 1700' elevation on those slopes with sufficient force to scour out all of the trees up to that point with only a 100' wave. Also, the one boat that escaped the Bay did so while riding the wave moving out at a height well above the heights of the trees on the headlands which themselves extended over 100 feet about the level of the Bay.
