New Idea! Let's pump cold water to stop hurricanes.

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

Oh, no... I'm sorry you took it that way. I was making light of the sillyness of my own post and the nuclear bombs thing.

Yes.

Fishing would be next to impossible too.

Yeah that would be impossible. The LNG platforms off the coast of Louisiana put out millions of gallons of cold water per hour, and that has no effect. Also, this kills millions of plankton and immature fish, but that's another topic for another board.

HMMMMMMMMMMMM so thats why Louisiana is so hyped up on the open loop LNG terminals. They say that they will cool the waters around them greatly but they tend to kill many of the fish and wildlife that live in the area. Oh well thats the price of progress>
Sarcasm should be read into above

I can't beleive the arrogance of people, trying to destroy natures works you know god allowed these thing on Earth for a reason. But something is telling me that in the future they will find a way to stop hurricanes and soon Storm2K will have nothing in the Atlantic to talk about.

here we go again.

I'm not bashing anyone but I think it is pathetic that they focus on this when they know it wont work (I hope they know) When we could be learning about more important things like predicting significant changes in strength and eyewall replacement cycles and learning how to prevent more Katrina situations (which I wont go into)

By trying to artificially weaken hurricanes they are fighting a losing battle.Even if we could, the cost would be through the roof and we'd kill many native species that cant take such rapid drops in water temps. they need to just drop this idea and move and be realistic and focus on understanding hurricanes better so we can better protect lives.

Just my two cents

It would work, but once again $$$$$$, and besides we'd have to have thousands of planes constantly seeding it, thats not going to work.

I bet Tom Cruise could stop a hurricane in its tracks by jumping on it like it's a couch.
