This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

what's going on in Mars atmosphere doesn't really prove or disprove anything. That was the jist of my point.

Okay, on this point we agree... but I still maintain that people who extend the obvious GW discussion to use it to advance the AGW hypothesis, and then alarm the public further by suggesting that it's a player in more active hurricane cycles are doing little good, and despite the science they may have, there ARE counter arguments and from what I have researched almost ALL credible meteorologists do NOT suggest any major connection with AGW and the activity of hurricanes.

Cool because that was the only point I was trying to make.

The long term brigthening of the Sun is based upon the evolution of the Star. However, there are shorter trends strictly related to the overall level of magnetic activity as seen in the sunspot cycle. This varies on the order of Centuries from periods of high activity to periods of lower activity where the sunspots and asociated activity (and Geophysical effects) nearly disappear. The latter occurred in the 17th and early 18th Centuries-the Maunder and Spörer Minima which coincided with the Little Ice Age period. The strongest of the former was the Medieval Maximum during which conditions were relatively warmer. We are now currently in the most active period of Solar activity since the invention of the telescope though it doesn't seem as high as inferred for the Medieval Maximum. With a potential link between Solar activity and Global temperatures present, it would seem odd to ignore the fact that we are in a high level period and have been since 1946 since it could be a contributory though by no means only factor in GW. As far as hurricanes and GW are concerned, I think what most Mets are saying is that given the abysmal state of the various datasets at this time, it's rather premature to make any statements in either direction in this regard.

FAIR WARNING!!!!!!

I have cleaned the discussion items out of this thread that have nothing to do with global warming, meaning the members telling staff how this board should be run and anything I saw as political. WE HAVE MADE IT ABUNDANTLY CLEAR MANY TIMES WHAT IS AND ISN'T ALLOWED.
IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH SOMETHING THAT IS GOING ON ON THIS BOARD CONTACT A STAFF MEMBER BY PM!!! WE WILL LOOK INTO IT. DO NOT DO IT ON THE OPEN BOARD!!! Resolution of the "problem" may not happen "quickly"-almost all of us have regular paying jobs besides this one-but it will be looked into and dealt with as we think it should be. This may sound hard nosed, but if one can't deal with these rules and the way this board is moderated, maybe they don't belong here.

Discussions concerning GW do not have to become political!! There is much of a scienctific nature and our own thoughts and speculative nature to discuss about GW. Actually I would like someone to tell me how GW is political!! It has nothing to do with politics until politicians use it for their own gain, and that has nothing to do with weather or the discussion of it.

Now let's try to get back to the discussion of GW without any politics involved!!!!!!
