It is probably inaccurate. Why would it be cool in Key west and warm in pensacola?

Something must be wrong - it not even 87F in the heart of summer. Perhaps the sensor is floating on the surface and it being impacted by the sun... :lol:

Sun starting to go down has dropped it to 84. Yes, the water cools too when the sun sinks, but not that quick. Definately seems like a sunlight error to me.

almost certainly, maybe Whales peed in the water like they may have done in Atlantic city when it read 94.8 earlier this week.

Its gotta be wrong.If it was right you guys in Pensacola would be in a world of hurt come hurricane season.

The bouy measures SST at one meter below sea level. On April 23 the warmest SST at the nearest bouy to Pensacola recorded 74.5 F. Last August 29 the SST in the northern GOM was in the middle 90's.

Those are the averages for the buoy.

It can get warmer than 74.5 in pensacola in the water.

You have beaches there?!?! I didn't even think of that... I might just stop by and go for a swim at the beach for a day or 300 :wink:
