LOL these all sound like me.My dad says when a Hurricane makes landfall I act like its the Super Bowl.My Dad also calls me and my mom a bunch of freaks. His famous line for all Hurricanes is "Its going to Mexico and you all are a bunch of freaks". I get my love of Hurricanes from my mother.Just a couple of hours ago at dinner my little sister was about to spill her drink. my mother said "oh no I am on the upper east quadrant of the drink". I am not jocking ether she really said that.

You might be a hurricane nut if when contemplating a name for your offspring, you consult the WMO lists instead of a baby book.

You might be a hurricane nut if you find it fitting to die by a hurricane.
You might be a hurricane nut if you went to see 50 storms this season and 5 cat5s.
You might be a hurricane nut if you went to see a katrina like storm moving into Miami and New york.
You might be a hurricane nut if you went to work at the nhc.

Out of the ones I made up these are my favorites
If you remember the Hurricane Andrew anniversary but forget your wedding aniversary, you might be a Hurricane nut.
If you break up with someone because their namesake Hurricane didnt cause enough damage, You might be a Hurricane nut.
If an episode of Talkin Tropics changed your life, you might be a Hurricane nut.
If you call an overflowing toilet "Storm Surge" You might be a Hurricane nut.
If you stand up your date because "Talkin Tropics" is on, you might be a Hurricane nut.
If when your mother asks how are your grades and you reply, "I have a category 3 average" You might be a Hurricane nut
If you purposely schedule your wedding on the aniversary of a famous Hurricane so you always remember it, you might be a Hurricane nut

like medicine, i love studying the complex nature of hurricanes. Theres always something new to learn, so its a learning process as well as a humbling one. I think we need to remain sensitive to those who have lost loved ones in storms in the past, we can be amazed by a hurricane but be saddened when people have to die.

As one directly impacted by Katrina, in every conceivable way, I can relate to certain boundaries that are needed. Talking, and even having a little humor can be therapeutic; however I tend to agree with the last couple of posts. Having a little fun by talking about how people can be totally fascinated by these storms is one thing; but any claims of fascination with seeing one of these things destroy a city goes a tad over the edge.
