Looking for recomendations for Tracking Software

#1 Postby slosh » Sun Apr 16, 2006 12:05 pm

What Hurricane tracking software does everyone use. I am interested in something that plots the latest model runs as well as the official forecast. I have downloaded the Global Tracks demo and it seems pretty good, I used a version a few years ago, but it seem a little bugy. Are there any alternatives out there? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

If you can spend some money, there is probably no better software out there than HURRTRAK RM PRO. The 2006 version was unveiled at the National Conference last week in Orlando and it is beyond words. We use their software while on missions and it is phenomenal.

That won't do the model runs like GT, but it is cheaper by twenty or thirty bucks.

I don't understand why tracking software is required. Can't you just go online and find the model runs?

I agree all info available in software is available on the net but it looks cool to have good graphics and its easier if you are in a hurry. I prefer Eye on the storm 3000

Yea....that's some MEAN stuff! I was drooling over that a few days ago. I actually visit the site every few days just to look at the sample pics. I know...that's sad.

There's also "Tracking The Eye". It can be found out http://www.hurricanesoftware.com

I've tried both Eye of the Storm and Tracking the Eye, and I tend to like EOTS better for some reason.

That's what I do, but they said they wanted one that plotted the models. Some people find that easier - to each his own.

Global Tracks is another tracking program and also posts models. I tried it but I didn't care for it. It does have great features though.
