I still think, however, we don't need thread #2 listed for pro analysis - that's already in the analysis forum, unless we are proposing to do away with that, which I don't think is a good idea. IMO the current setup of having the pro mets' analysis in their own forum works well. If we move it here to an analysis thread combined with the models & tracks I think it will just create confusion - especially when amateurs want weigh-in on the models/tracks. Amateurs will naturally want to include model/track images, etc., in their posts so we'll end up with them in 2 locations (threads 1 & 2). Again, just more confusion IMO.
I think we should have the stickied advisory and recon threads and then a 3rd models/tracks/satellite/discussion thread and leave it at that. Basically, just like last year.

I agree also because last year it made it easy to do that. So this is what I think:
EX:
1 - TD 1 - TC analysis in the Tropical Analysis Forum (which we had last year)
2 - TD 1 - Stickied Advisorys Thread
3 - TD 1 - Stickied Recon Thread (Post Decoded Recon Messages)
4 - TD 1 - Recon Discussion (This allows for discussion of posted recon mesages so that, messages do not clutter up the Stickied Recon Threado or number 5)
5 - TD 1 - Sat pics/models/tracks/and general discussion (For everyone)
Also I would like to add the repetative posting of graphics of the same nature and too many graphics causes important posts or other images to be missed because they are getting pushed back. I have noticed a lot more new members posting on the forum which is awesome but, this is also going to cause some problems because of the quantity of the posts. This is just a message not intended towards anyone specifically but, if during season and on tropical cyclone threads if we could have quality over quantity we must remember that. That kind of makes me think that Mikes idea is a good one so that Pro Mets can discuss the tropical cyclone in one thread and the general posters like myself can post in the sat pics/models/tracks/ and general threads, so that wobble watchers can also discuss the wobble watching. Possibly letting them create their own thread to do that. I don't know i'm not sure how to handle that one cause if you have wobble watchers posting on the general discussion of the tropical cyclone you tent to have a large quantity of posts pushing back other quality posts. Anway good job on the thread doctor hurricane I think all this did need to be addressed before season and the first tropical depression.
2-Analyisis,Models,Tracks thread=This thread is for the pro mets to chim in their anaylisis about the systems.

Quick question: Is it just me who finds the raw recon messages much easier to use than the decoded ones? I'd suggest the first post of the recon thread could explain what the various parts of the messages mean, but I guess lots of people like them posted decoded.

No no no...this thread should be dedicated to model plots, any maps, dvorak estimates, and I guess we should throw the sat pics in there too. ANY Analysis by pro mets should be quick comments on certain items in the thread ONLY...not for long, drawn out discussion.
I also propose that this thread be locked to prevent general members from posting in it, so we don't get too many of the same thing, etc. etc.

I agree. I think that when you post models, sat pics, etc. it's only natural to make a comment along with it and if we try separating the model and sat pic posts from the comments, it simply won't work. Either people are going to make comments anyway along with their model track map or feel it's a waste of time to post a link to the map in another thread that goes with their comment in this thread, not to mention all the extra clicking and bandwidth for people to have to view TWO posts to really get ONE post from a member. I won't even mention us mods trying to keep up with enforcing this...

Problem 1 solved, sg.
Then all you have to do is take on the "if you see it in the GD thread, delete it" policy.
Problem 2 solved.
Now, one exception I guess we *can* make is allow the S2K Markup Maps (ONLY) in the GD thread for ease. Any sort of professional model outputs, forecast maps, dvorak estimates, surface analyses, SST charts, etc. etc. should go in the AMTP thread.
