The Talkin Tropics alone has 653pgs which leads up from 2003, I think it is time to delete those pages

I don't think deleting those pages would serve any positive purpose. They aren't clogging the board plus they serve as a historical log. Additionally, if someone wants to find a post from a year or two ago, they can perform a "search" and find the post they are looking for.

The key isn't about managing old threads, but rather controlling new threads to extend their longivity. For instance, the more threads that are created about a storm, the quicker they become history by falling onto page 2 or 3. That is why the "one storm-one (or two or three) thread(s)" concept is ideal.

don't we already have 3 threads as per senor? sometimes more? advisories, general discussion and recon, occasionally recon discussion. seems like the moderators have a good system.

now what we SHOULD have is one person to create this thread.. any moderator is probably best instead of having a race for it, which results in multiple and less professional threads.

also... maybe a 4th "very random stuff" thread in the busiest times like if a Katrina or Wilma appeared, so that people don't produce "LOOK AT THIS RANDOM STUFF" thread.

I didn't know that the way the storm threads were handled in 2005 was the first year that was done. When I joined last year, I was under the impression it had always been that way, because it was a good setup - IMO.

Sure, some threads of the more intense storm or those they may or do make landfall will go on for pages and pages, but I like it the way it was last year. I didn't mind checking out the previous pages to see anything that I had missed (it took some time, yes, especially since I'm a 56ker).

As far as the new threads on an existing storm goes, that's going to be very hard to stop. Eliminating comments on the advisory or recon threads will be hard to do as well, unless the only ones allowed to post in those are mods that can lock the topic once the new info is entered (but that's not fair to those like Brent that did an excellent job last year on the advisories).

I do like the idea of no hotlinking, although I am just as guilty of it as anyone. You would think I would know better, being on dial-up.

I say no major changes, but what do I know...I just a lurker 8-) .

My two cents..that and $2.80 will get you a gallon of gas.

Well in Houma today, gas broke the $3.00 mark for Supreme. At some locations around here, Supreme gas is up to $3.05 a gallon...truly unbelievable.
