Smoke Free
John and I are still smoke free as of August 25th. It was tough at the beginning, but I think we have it licked. We will always be an addict, like alcohol. 40 years of smoking is a long time. I just got my chest xray back for the year and it is clear.

Good for you!
How long has it been? I'm going on more then 2 years myself. Sadly, I didn't quit before damage was done. But the benefits are so much better. I can't believe now how bad smokers smell. I smelled like that?! Oh, and the added weight is a pain, but healthier then the smoking... Though sooner or later, I hope to loose it.
Anyway, again, congrats!

I quit smoking 26 years ago. I will never go back. Janice, as bad as the weight gain might seem, if I remember what they told us correctly, it takes 100 pounds of wieght gain to cause the same amount of medical problems smoking a pack a day causes. I could be off on this and I do not advocate the weight gain, but it is something to think about. Either way you look at it I can say I quit and I am glad I did. Ironically, I quit for my kids health and now they both smoke(they are adults)as well as my wife also. It is doable to stay smoke free and I CONGRATULATE YOU BOTH!!!! GREAT WORK!!!!

Most policemen smoke. Can't imagine why.
Here when they go to CID (criminal investigation division) they still smoke plus get pot bellies. Stay away from CID, Brother!
OMG......it's TRUE, it's TRUE
