How to category 5 proof your home
Anyone know much about insulated concrete forms? This building construction can withstand Category 4 sustained winds, and a lot of them are built with an interior "safe room" that has true Category 5 protection which can withstand a 3 second gust of 250 mph.

Sounds interesting. Can you or anyone else provide any links to the information?

How many people have 400,000 to spend on a home? that is what that particular home cost if I remember correctly and there are many neighborhoods that would not allow a home like that due to their deed retrictions.

Wait a minute - I thought all members of S2K had to have at least 400K in the bank at any given time...

Steel would rust from the saltwater
He means Steel-reinforced concrete. Concrete, IIRC, does not rust.

houses on the water here in Boca are like 10 million. A house away from the beach range from $500K-$5 million. I can't afford either

yep the lots alone on Pensacola beach are in the millions not including the actual house! ridiculous if you ask me
1 Million to buy, 5 Million per year to rebuild
yep, it is a beautiful place to live, I have family who lives on the beach and rebuilding for the umptenth time, but lately it just seems like every other day they are rebuilding, thats why im glad i live in the city of Pensacola and not on the Island
