I know, I know - I'm so excited for you guys! We're to receive ice first and then all snow (2 to 4 inches).

Is Gord still in the US or did he head back to the UK? If he did, he'll be so bummed he missed this surprise storm.

Nope, he's here til May I heard.

As for here, I'm concerned about the ice that will fall at the onset. I won't be surprised if a few locations lose power late tonight or tomorrow morning.

Ice now less likely for metro Cincy. Heavy snow warning may not verify for Central OH, since the storm has shifted south.

Looking at forecasts, it should be a Winter Storm Warning, not a Heavy Snowfall Warning.

All snow over this way, just north of the Ohio River in Anderson Township. Our local school district is closed, that announcement came in just before we were to leave to take our HS'er to school at 7. That was cutting it close, classes start at 7:20! Usually our local district closes by 6 a.m.

Now I have a free day to since I work for the school district.

And get this, my daughter Laura said let's go out for breakfast. Sure, that's a good idea. Chance getting into an accident for donuts! LOL There's a 6 car accident on the I 75 bridge across the Ohio River! Roads are terrible I'm hearing.

Stay safe up there Carve. You too in Florence, Kentucky Jeremy.

NUMEROUS accidents this morning on N KY roadways. It's been all snow here. Catching a bit of a lull but that's not going to be all, there will be more snow. Lots of schools are closed in Kentucky today.

Same over here, many schools closed now. That were once in delay mode. Our local district announced a closed status in the knick of time, right before 7. I'm sure HS students who are bused to school were already there. So it was probably hectic at our 2 high schools. By now hopefully those students were returned home. Our superintendant waits until the last possible minute to close, which is annoying. But at the same time, a relief.

Now I have to dig out my snow shovel. It was barely used this winter.

Believe me, I am going NOWHERE today. I was up for a little bit and when I went back to sleep, Boone County was under a level 2 Snow Emergency (unnecessary travel not advised).

Awww man, that stinks Gord. You were so close! Drive on down to Cincy!!! Although here in my community it's beginning to melt. I shoveled the driveway in under 20 minutes. It's slushy now. But it was nice to breathe in that final, cold snowy air once more. Until next year.

Wish you had received measurable snow Gord.

Thanks guys! :D

Thats it way it goes i suppose...I really did pick a stinker of a time to be in Columbus! Never mind, at least we got those storms at the start of last week to whet my appetite for the Spring ahead. I really did think yesterday's would be the one, i cant believe that one missed!

And the UK has had just a snowier and colder winter than it has seen in some time...and its still cold and snowy there now by all accounts. My home town in England has seen more snow than Columbus this winter...which is a real surprise. But it might bode well for my next few winters back home!

Shouldn't grumble...in the time i've been here, i saw some decent snowy weather in January 2005 and December 2005. I've seen a lot of excellent thunderstorms...the likes of which i'll probably never see in England. I've experienced much colder and hotter weather than we get in the UK. I've seen what an ex-hurricane looks like. (wet bascically!). I've seen some of the most intense lightning displays i've seen in my life...i've just had 2 of the most stunning autumn's i've ever seen...list goes on really. Just a shame i'll be going home on the back of a poor winter!
