So I guess I am the odd one out on this poll. A storm hitting land would be best because the storm can be as strong as I want it and I can have it hit anywhere.

hmm. i would have to consider most exciting being a major hurricane threatening the e coast n of cape hatteras, either the d.c. area or nyc. a close runner-up to be a strong cat 4 threatening the ne caribbean.

none of the above would be exciting. All would be very scary...especially a monster
cat 5 targeting anywhere...would be VERY SCARY IMO.

This stuff is REALLY SCARY folks

If any of those things happen i'll buy a new home up in the Northeast
or Southwest and get ready to move there if a big one heads my way...

But you have to admit, when you were young or if you are young now you loved/love the thrill of a hurricane that's major coming your way.

yeah. I am, and was like that...then wilma hit, and it all changed......it is just because if you see others getting impacted, you want to have to see what it feels like to go through one, have no school for 2 weeks...then wilma came, and I wished I wouldnt have hoped for wilma to come, she ruined everything..cancelled school for 2 weeks, no power, trees down everywhere, damage was extensive, but I'd do it all over again...lmao...I'm an idiot.

Yeah and right after you do that the next Cat 3 (or higher) hits the Northeast. Seriously if you want to be 100% safe, buy a home in the SW. No hurricane will likely EVER BOTHER YOU THERE

YOU said it. :P :)

Seriously though, I doubt your parents feel the same way. Despite popular weather freak belief, they really aren't fun. It's not fun to lose everything you owned. It's not fun to have a blue roof and worry every time a thunderstorm approaches. It's not fun to see your area struggling to recover, and as some businesses try and come back to life, there aren't enough people to work at those jobs, because many people never returned after the evacuation. It's not fun to see places you loved to go to, gone. It's really sad to see slabs where houses used to be and watch your friends and family struggle with rebuilding, or having to live with the damage, and make do. Even if your house is still standing, as is mine, the cost of the repairs to the house, the removal of a ton of trees, the evacuation, etc. takes a huge toll. No power and access to your home shut down for 2 weeks or longer. The unbearable smell.
And I won't even get into the fear for the lives of the children who were with us in Jasper, where I evacuated to. (not far enough)
Trees crashing to the ground all around us and wondering if one was gonna land on our motel, and crush us. Not really fun.

Maybe it's just me, but the thrill of tracking is gone. I now fear hurricanes more than ever. I'll still be here watching and tracking of course. I always will. Hurricanes still fascinate me, but just the ones that stay far, far away.
