This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

Which would you consider the most exciting for 2006?

#1 Postby Weatherfreak000 » Sat Mar 18, 2006 1:23 pm

I decided to make this topic after having a rather interesting discussion about the upcoming season. So which do you consider the most amazing?

Personally I want to see a named system making it into the EPAC and then possibly moving into the CPAC and Possibly into the WPAC. I know that has to be near impossible but wouldn't it be amazing to see?

I mean if a named storm would ever cross through Mexico and into the EPAC it would maintain it's name wouldn't it? That's be pretty neat.

Call me boring if you want, but after Rita hitting here and still dealing with that, and what others went through with other hurricanes, I would find it quite exciting if everyone was spared from landfalling hurricanes this year, while at the same time, those of us who desperately need rain, would get a minimal tropical storm or depression, just enough to give the area a real good soaking, but without the winds. That sounds pretty exciting to me. :)
(but only if we KNOW the TD or TS would be very minimal at landfall, otherwise just bring plenty of plain ol thunderstorms) The wildfires around here are getting a bit scary.

I voted "Other"
Some of those other options were fulfilled last year anyway.

I think all of the choices there would be exciting..
1) A Storm (Any Category) hitting Land (Somewhere of your choice, prove details) that would be cool....it would be like you were controlling it...SPOOK-AY!. lol

2)30+ Storms----- that would be so freaking scary, but very very, exciting and horrible at the same time....wow...that's what sylvia brown said.

3)A Named System surviving into the EPAC (And possibly farther) -----weird......

2 or More Category Fives------- not suprising, but wondering again, what the next year will have in store.

The Strongest Storm on Record Forming-------- a stronger one than wilma, would be very very exciting.....what if one got up to 200 mph winds? awesome! I just hope to god it wouldnt hit anyone.

2005 BROKE SO MANY RECORDS, AND SET SO MANY NEW ONES, I KNOW THIS HURRICANE SEASON IS GOING TO BE SOMETHING VERY INTERESTING AND EXCITING TO WATCH.I'M SURE WE'LL BREAK AT LEAST ONE RECORD...

Well all of them bar the landfalling one were intresting. The 30+ storms and 2 cat-5's were very intresting but my fave had to be the strongest storm ever, after Wilma that would take one hell of a effort and would simply stun most people, even more so then people were with Wilma.

I chose "Other". I think it would be most exciting to have ZERO named storms in the Atlantic Basin in 2006. Maybe I could get some work done...

Haha, I noticed most people have a tendency to suggest 0 storms.

I was very near actually putting that as an option but I was wondering if I should, at least I covered ground with the "Other" Option though lol.

Another one I was thinking is maybe a Minimal Hurricane until Spain. Like maybe if Vince could have possibly survived and never weakened and we got to watch that history take place. That would be amazing.

I thought 2005 was about the most excitement a hurricane enthuastic can take. I don't know if 2006 can top that. Rita, Wilma, and Katrina all got up to 175 mph. If any storm of 2006 decides to top those 3 canes in strength, and starts barreling towards Houma, I will evacuate to Canada.

Triple hit from single system

#17 Postby wayne56 » Sat Mar 18, 2006 6:38 pm

A category 4/5 direct hit in Miami/Fort Lauderdale area, next as a category 4/5 just south of Galveston, Texas, and finally the system stalls over the Midwest with destructive floods.

I would say that most exciting thing to happen would be another record breaking low pressure reading in a powerful catagory five. I would say it can't happen this year but, I would be really suprised if it happend another year in a row.

Well I hate the use of the word "exiciting", but here goes:

1. Cat. 3 (weak 4 at most due to climate) into NYC/New England (from my own POV; that way I might get in on the action), and transforming into a huge baroclinically exhanced hybrid system (as Wilma was starting to do in Florida)

2. Cat 3 or higher into the Texas coast near Huston/Glaveston Island area.
