Unnamed Subtropical Storm?
According to the Zeta report, located http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/pdf/TCR-AL302005_Zeta.pdf, there was an unnamed subtropical storm earlier in 2005. That is huge news, and means there was a 28th storm. This isn't Gamma we're talking about. But what is it then? Could it be STD 22, even though we have the report? Something else? Anyone know anything about this?

In Zeta's final report the NHC is commenting on an unnamed subtropical storm that formed earlier in the 2005 hurricane season. Will the NHC have a report on this storm as well? In what month did it form?
Thanks,
Have a good day!
Yes, we will be preparing a report on this system. It was in October.

This is really very intresting indeed, I do hope they'd hurry up and tell us when this system occured!
I personally can't think what system it can be though there were several invests during October, or could it be a hybrid feature?
Was there any other system in October like this???

I've got a feeling that may well be the case James, while the floaters were on alpha and Wilma it was missed...though if thats the case thats very poor indeed from the NHC, even if we were keeping their main attention on wilma and Alpha there is still other satilite images othe rthen the floaters.

Within the whole mess of systems that was TS Tammy and all that associated rainfall, there was a small system that made landfall in NJ near Atlantic City. It was mixed in with the general stormsystem that caused all that flooding across the NE and New England at the time.
that could be it.

I think they are talking about this low pressure center that you see just west of the Azores in early October.
Other than this system, the only other system I see with a potential of being classified as an unnamed subtropical cyclone would be STD 22 before/after it was operationally classified. Although, a low pressure just west of the Canary Islands during the first couple of days in October might also be examined.

Derek I agree about the April one. Even a storm2k forecaster agreed with me that it probably had enough tropical features to be classified as a subtropical storm.
